CHIMERA project presentation during The Projects to Policy Seminar in Brussels, June 2024

Łukasz Szklarski participated in the annual Projects to Policy Seminar (PPS) in Brussels, hosted by the European Research Executive Agency (REA) and DG HOME. This event convenes coordinators of new civil security research projects, offering them a platform to engage with policymakers and stakeholders from various EU agencies, including Frontex, EU-LISA, Europol, DG HOME, DG ECHO, and REA.

During the seminar, which started with a plenary session featuring presentations by EU agency representatives, the coordinator presented the CHIMERA project. CHIMERA, which utilizes advanced data fusion and AI applications to enhance security, aligns well with EU policy priorities. The presentation highlighted the project’s potential to impact security measures positively.

Additionally, the seminar facilitated breakout sessions and discussions, fostering cross-cooperation among the attendees. One of the focal points was the upcoming EU AI Act and its implications for security research, exploring responsible and effective AI utilization under new regulations.

The Projects to Policy Seminar serves as a crucial platform for aligning innovative research objectives with evolving policy needs, ensuring that projects like CHIMERA address contemporary security challenges effectively. Thank you for having us!

CHIMERA project milestone – RN detection

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our CHIMERA project, achieved in collaboration with the esteemed Consortium Member, the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). Recently, we convened a pivotal meeting in Fukushima. This visit also included an insightful tour of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, the site of the 2011 disaster.

This joint meeting was to exchange scientific and technical information on topics related to cooperation, such as field monitoring methods and research status of environmental radiation survey. This collaborative effort represents a critical step forward in enhancing our capabilities in radiation detection and response for this project.
